Hello, my name is Susan Brunlinger. I chose to call my business Midnight Oil Transcript Proofreading because, as an unapologetic night owl, I work almost exclusively at night. This can prove to be an advantage for you, a busy court reporter, knowing that your transcripts are being worked on even as you sleep. I am committed to providing my clients with the best proofreading service possible and will work closely with you to ensure that your documents are error-free and polished.
I am a retired dental technician of 35 years where I fabricated gold and porcelain crowns. This work required intense focus for long hours with strong attention to detail. As an avid reader, typos have always seemed to jump off of the page at me. Together these skills have helped to prepare me for my current career as a transcript proofreader.
I hold a certificate of excellence as a graduate of Proofread Anywhere's Transcript Proofreading: Theory and Practice. This extensive course requires a 90% or better accuracy rate on the final exam to receive a certificate. I have proofread and annotated over 3,000 pages of transcripts from depositions, EUOs, hearings, trials, and rulings.
The resources I use for proofreading are the following:
* Morson's English Guide for Court Reporters, 2nd edition - by Lillian Morson
* Bad Grammar/Good Punctuation - by Margie Wakeman Wells
* Merriam - Webster's Dictionary
* PA's Transcript Proofreading: Theory and Practice - course materials
* Court Reporter's Preference Sheet
When I am not working, you can usually find me walking my dog in the redwood park near my home, painting, or playing my ukulele.
Thank you for your interest in Midnight Oil Transcript Proofreading. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
